Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour – 11 Nights / 12 Days

Destinations: Delhi – Agra – Varanasi – Bodhgaya – Rajgir – Nalanda – Vaishali – Kushinagar – Lumbini – Sravasti – Lucknow – Delhi

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi

On arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport, you’ll be greeted by a Magadh Tours representative and transferred to your hotel.
Overnight stay in Delhi.

 

Day 02: Delhi – Agra – Delhi (Day Trip by Train)

Early morning transfer to the railway station to board the high-speed Gatimaan Express for Agra. Enjoy breakfast onboard. Arrive in Agra in around 2 hours, meet our local representative, and begin sightseeing.

  • Visit the Taj Mahal (closed Fridays), a breathtaking symbol of eternal love built by Emperor Shah Jahan.
  • After lunch, explore the Agra Fort, a majestic 16th-century red sandstone fortress on the Yamuna River, commissioned by Akbar.

Later, transfer back to Agra station to return to Delhi.
Dinner at a city restaurant.
Overnight stay in Delhi.

 

Day 03: Delhi – Varanasi (By Flight)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Varanasi, one of the world’s oldest living cities. On arrival, transfer to the hotel and enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon, take an excursion to Sarnath, where Buddha delivered his first sermon. Visit the Dhamek Stupa, Deer Park, and Sarnath Museum (closed Fridays).
Dinner and overnight stay in Varanasi.

 

Day 04: Varanasi – Bodhgaya

Begin your day with a serene boat ride on the Ganges, witnessing the morning rituals and spirituality of Varanasi. Return to the hotel for breakfast.

Afterward, drive to Bodhgaya, the most sacred Buddhist pilgrimage site, where Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment beneath the Bodhi Tree.

Visit the Mahabodhi Temple and the sacred Bodhi Tree.
Dinner and overnight stay in Bodhgaya.

 

Day 05: Bodhgaya – Full-Day Exploration

Spend the day exploring Bodhgaya and its surrounding spiritual landmarks:

  • Sujata Village, where Sujata offered milk rice to Buddha
  • Niranjana River
  • Various international monasteries

All meals included.
Overnight stay in Bodhgaya.

 

Day 06: Bodhgaya – Rajgir – Nalanda – Vaishali

After breakfast, drive to Rajgir and visit:

  • Gridhrakuta Hill (Vulture’s Peak)
  • Venuvana Monastery
  • Bimbisara’s Jail

After lunch, continue to Nalanda, the ancient university town. Explore the ruins of Nalanda University and its museum.

Later, drive to Vaishali. On arrival, check-in at the hotel.
Overnight stay in Vaishali.

 

Day 07: Vaishali – Kushinagar

After breakfast, explore Vaishali, where Buddha gave his final sermon and where the Second Buddhist Council was held. Visit the Ashokan Pillar and Relic Stupa.

Post-lunch, drive to Kushinagar, visiting the Kesariya Stupa en route.
Dinner and overnight stay in Kushinagar.

 

Day 08: Kushinagar – Lumbini

After breakfast, visit the Mahaparinirvana Temple, marking the place where Buddha attained Mahaparinirvana, and the Ramabhar Stupa, his cremation site.

Post-lunch, drive to Lumbini in Nepal (ensure necessary visas).
On arrival, check-in at the hotel.
Dinner and overnight stay in Lumbini.

 

Day 09: Lumbini – Sravasti (via Kapilvastu)

After breakfast, visit Maya Devi Temple, the exact birthplace of Lord Buddha, and the surrounding international monasteries.

Later, drive to Sravasti, visiting the ancient site of Kapilvastu en route.
Dinner and overnight stay in Sravasti.

 

Day 10: Sravasti – Lucknow – Delhi (By Train)

After breakfast, explore Jetavana Monastery and the Angulimala Cave in Sravasti.

Then drive to Lucknow and transfer to the railway station to catch the afternoon train to Delhi. Dinner onboard.
On arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Overnight stay in Delhi.

 

Day 11: Delhi – Departure

After breakfast, enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour of New Delhi, including:

  • Qutub Minar
  • India Gate & Rajpath
  • Presidential Palace & Government Buildings
  • Mahatma Gandhi Memorial
  • Akshardham Temple (closed Mondays)

Evening transfer to the airport for your international departure.

 

Day 12: Arrival Back Home

Arrive in your home country with spiritual memories and a deeper understanding of the life and teachings of the Buddha.
